Samt: Qibla Compass

Support · Griffonix Inc.

Samt shows the direction of the Kaaba in Makkah from wherever you are. No ads, no account, no tracking. The bearing is calculated on your device and works without an internet connection.

Getting an accurate reading

Allow location access when the app asks — Samt needs your position to calculate the bearing. Hold your iPhone flat, screen up, and turn slowly until the indicator aligns with the Qibla marker.

Keep the phone away from magnets, metal surfaces, speakers, laptops and car dashboards; these distort the magnetometer. If readings drift, move the phone in a figure-eight motion to recalibrate, and check that Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → System Services → Compass Calibration is on.

Common questions

Does it work offline? Yes. The direction is computed on your device from your coordinates. No connection is required.

Why does it differ from a printed Qibla marker? Samt uses the great-circle bearing to Makkah. Printed markers are sometimes based on older or simplified measurements.

The needle is unstable. That is almost always magnetic interference. Step away from metal and electronics, then recalibrate.
